'88/'89 mainshaft 5th and 6th

Well..i have an '86 R...but i just bought the yukon gears and i have to use the '88/89 mainshaft 5th and 6th gears. I tried ordering from servicehonda but they areon backorder and i need the gears A.S.A.P. Just checkin to see if anyone has those two layin around..preferrably new, thanks

This is a topic I've always been curious about. What is the actual procedure for using the Yukon gears in an 86?

did the yukons not come with all the gears??? I thought it was a 2nd through 6th gear replacement for both shafts...

The yukon gears are the '88/'89 ratio 2nd-6th on the countershaft...but the person i bought them from "rebadew on ebay" said i need to use the 5th/6th mainshaft gears. If anyone else has the '86 tranny and has used the yukon gears...correct me if im wrong.

I'm not sure if there is anything you can do. I've heard of people mixing up the gears but not sure if they have to match on the countershaft.

Unfortunately you should have told them as they had a set with the gears.

give www.cal-atv.com a call. They usually have alot of discontinued and backordered parts.

Yeah i know they had the set w/the gears..but my dumbass figured i was going to be placin an order w/service honda and id just get it through them. I screwed myself hardcore on this one..now im stressin i wont have the motor done in time b4 the first few races...ah well. Thanks for reminding me about cal-atv..i forgot all about them, but im def. gonna give them a call tomorrow.

You should only need the 5th and 6th from an 88-89 mainshaft trans. Ask rebadew if he has them. He was selling that kit with the two new honda gears if I remember correctly...

I'am in the process of doing that right now. I got a 86r and got a set of yukon gears and bought 5th and 6th mainshaft gears from 88-89. 5th gear has not come in yet. I will know for sure if it works without any problems. It should be in any day now. The only ones I got are going in my R... Sorry...If they fit I will post part#'s
