My friend has a 1997(I think) 300ex and it would not start. He tried to jump it off and it acted like it wanted to start but never did. So he got a new battery and it still wont start and when he tries to jump it it does nothing. Well can anyone help? Could it be somthing like the spark plug or a fuse?

Thanks

it's not the fuse if the starter is turning the motor over, could be many things, try plug first

Ok he told me alittle more about it today. About 6 months ago he got everything changed spark plug, oil, ect. Then after about a month he let it sit so it has been sitting for 5 months.

if it hasn't been started in 5 months, you'll have too take the carb off and and clean it, tell him next time it's going too sit for that long too run it out of gas before parking it, also you should drain the old gas out of tank, they make a gas additive that helps if it isn't ridden often

does he have a new battery? if so is the atv in gear? is the kill switch in the middle position? is the reverse lever engaged? ANY ONE OF THESE WILL KEEP IT FROM STARTING, also is the key on, tell him when he cleans the carb too take the jets out and clean the tiny holes in the sides of them, and all passages.
