HELP! with sidecase

if you change one 450r sidecase do you have to change both of them?

Not that I have ever heard, whats the problem?

well my dad has one out in the garage working on it.the chain came off and busted the sidecase.so he bought one sidecase.he said hes rebuilt a ton of bikes but honda told him he didnt have to buy both of them.but now when he tries to put the cases back on they both fit to gether fine but if he titins the bolts up it locks the crank up.please help if you can.thanks

Something is not lining up, or hitting somewhere, the shifter side, right?

Sounds like what my honda(harley) dealer did to mine after the starter recall. Hope it works out for you.
