DOT tires, headlights tail lights turn signals horn. The 450 isn't one of the best to consider to make street legal. Running at condtant RPMs is going to be rough on a motor with such small oil capacity.

Explain a little better please "Running condant RPM's"...........the purpose of using it is to go & come from work twice a week, and the average miles will be like around 14 miles daily.:(

i think he meant to say running constant rotation per minutes(RPM)

Yes, thats what i mean't. Sorry.

A horn in an XC would be hilarious. Yelling at people to get out of the way is much more fun.

I don't see why u couldn't use an R for a road machine. Just gear it so you don't have to be in the high RPM all day long.

I mean people race desert on these things, constant high speed.
As long as you gear it right and don't fly down the highway on the rev limiter all day long. lol

It depends on what state u live in.
I think theres only 2 or 3 states that let u do it.

If NJ let us do it, I'd buy a 2nd bike so fast.
Slam it to the ground, street tires, like +8 A-arms and axle, some insane gearing and sell my truck!

South Dakota Lets you. I go to college there, I want thinking about doing, cause a lot of people drive quad to class and stuff. But I would have to go get it licensed, insured and another parking pass. It would be pretty cool but just a little to much hassle.

I should move. Michigan its a no go. Thought about it ,but not a possibility. It would make sense, the government wants good mpg, my 450 would sure do alot better then my jeep.

Desert racers aren't pegged out, and you could gear a 450 up so that it would be faster and run at lower rpms, but what I'm saying is it isn't the optimum bike to do it on because of the small oil capacity. If you took the time to make a larger oil cooler, I'd say it would be fine. Just my two cents.

****......here in ohio if you made your bike street legal and took it on the road it would still get impounded and id end up in jail. I hate my state. im moving to AZ though so maybe ill see ya at the dunes one day latina or pass ya up on the freeway or something.

my buddies street bike only holds .25 qts. more than my 450R. It has more than enough oil capacity to run on roads. I ride harder and faster in dirt than i do on the roads when i am on them anyway. But my buddy is a cop Latina so ill try to get a copy of the form for inspection that says everything you need to make it street legal.
