maybe a brinks locking cable, and lock it to something solid like an i bolt in the floor or something immovable. i lock mine to my ATV lift which weighs quite a f'in bit lol

I forget where I saw but a kid actually wired up an alarm system for his quad. It seemed cool if you actually needed it.

Use more than one way to secure it. If they want it, make them work for it. I would personnaly usemore than one cable with multiple locks. Most thieves dont want to spend to much time at the location of theft. This increases their chances of being caught. Just make sure you secure it multiple ways to slow them down significantly, this may deter them from coming after your atv.

My friend would just use a MasterLock and put it through the holes on his rear disc rotor. Bolt cutters though can get through almost anything. Take your front wheels off your something. Just make it hard for someone to steal by making it hard to roll or move. There are actually alarm sytems out there for quads.

last year when people were steeling things this was before we got our security system i put a lock on each side of our garage door plus a lock on my atv and i think if anyone was to break in once they got the lock off the atv they would go try to lift up the garage door and just say forget this crap plus my parents jeeps were in front of the garage doors. i was looking at locks on the net and i ran accrosed these i thought they were pretty sweet.

We have a lock on the shed and 2 brackets with extra locks just to make the door more secure 2 Gates on each side leading to the back yard. A dog... lol and we have a nice heavy duty chain running though the rear rims and sprockets off the 4 bikes kept in the shed.

I work for Chubb UK fitting intruder alarms and all I can say on security is a dog is the best protection you can get. Alarms in Engalnd mean nothing and nobody does a damn thing when they hear they hear them. A good secure bolt and chain to the ground and a dog is the best security you can get.

The lock is about 40" long, if you need an exact I can measure it tomorrow.

There is a disc lock out there that has an alarm built into it.. It is insanely loud and piercing.. All they have to do is move the bike and the alarm will wake up the neighborhood....I will post a link if I can find one.....

Sold tons of these when I was working in the Harley world..

My ex got stolen from my shed and I had the same kind of cable lock they nipped the wire then cut masterlock chain with $20 BOLT CUTTERS those things dont stop them from stealing your quad only thing that stops them is uncutible chain & lock that cost me $50 for lock and chain that was cut to lenth with torch that cost me around $60 ,I still was not sure that it would deter them so i put a home made alarm on shed ,first you need car battery wire it to a regular light switch them to a auto alarm siren them drill hole in switch run string to door paint string black then if someone opens door siren gos off.

I have cctv covering any entrance/exit to my house & garden etc. I can view my cameras from work during the day and have a good alarm system but the tossers in the uk dont give a damn...

take my 2 jack russel terriors (yappy as hell) can be annoying when someone farts whilst walking past my house but there is no way that anyone can enter my lockup area in my garden without my dogs barking like crazy, if i let the dogs loose on you, give them a buscuit and they are anyones :) but they let me know "YOU ARE THERE"

Try chaining it to something secure in the garage. Locking the bike is great, but people can just come in and lift it onto a truck.

Lol... well shes actually not quite bad... she only barks like crazy when there is someone she doesn't know. She's woken us up on more than one occasion of mischief in the property. She won't attack the person but she barks from a distance and my dad normally knows when she means it.

I keep mine locked in my garage, but somene could easily get it. Thankfully I have a nosey old lady across the street that calls me anytime someone turns around in my driveway.

My other deterent is Bandit, a Lousianna Catahoula Leopard Dog....he thinks he's in the Secret Service with those glasses. He's all business.

Why is everyone hatin on Boxers?

Im a dog lover, and we had a german shepard that passed away. We also have a white boxer though.

Although they are very wild, they are actually great dogs. Very intelligent. Also very kid friendly. When I was a kid i would pull on his tail and try to ride him and he never turned on me. ( I was only lik 6, lol)

He also knows who to be nice to and who not to. If someones hurting us he'll kick their arse.

I wired an alarm system in the garage to a fire alarm bell
(when testing It got alot of attention from the neighbors)

believe me when I say you do not want to hang out for more than a couple seconds, it is wired to a hidden motion sensor

the garage is locked and I park "old red" (chevy blazer) in front of the door

and a great pyrenees that loves people (they taste like chicken)

and theft insurance

I think im covered as well as I can make it

but if someone wants it bad enough they can find a way, Im just not making it easy on them

oh yeah, if they want my 400ex or 450r they have to take them off the shelf also..........................if I find someone squished under my quad, im not calling the cops until the corps starts to stink

@ 450rJam;

I take it, that is your garage? Two car or so? Good idea with the quad shelf, I like that idea... Do you have a little winch to get them down?

450rJam

yes its a two and a half car garage (my kids built a half pipe for skate boards that takes up alot of space, its going outside as soon as summer is here)

I just back the truckup and roll them in, the shelf was more for space savings than anti-theft but unless your the hulk or back up into the garage its not easy to get them down

My boxers are both the sweetest dogs ever, and extremely smart. They do bark when they see strangers until we let them in the house. Once WE let the person in, they stop barking and start licking faces. In all reality they wouldn't hurt anyone, but they have the look. And we have an electric fence so they have free reign of the yard.

They are also great at keeping the jahova's witnesses out our yard to. I let them out when I see them down the street and they skip our house:devil:

Yea my alearm is pretty cool. (Thanks for posting it! ;) )

It just gives me the peice of mind. Also, we have a golden retrever ( how ever you spell it haha) he has a real ddeeeeeep bark that will scare the crap out of you.. he hides in the shadows (no joke) waited till you o by the door, the the runs barking but wagging his tail haha, he just wants attention.. but will scare you at first.. be also have an alarm on the garage, with huge pad locks on each bay, with my 125db alarm on my bike.. with steel bars on the bay windows.. it will suck, so you get spooked by the dog, you finally open up the door with huges steel nippers or a grinder, then the alarm goes off, you run inside, (poliece are there in 5 minutes w/ my neighbor being one) tought my bike and the alarm goes off w/ my dog chasing you, you try to grind down the locks, but then the cops come and we come out with a 10 guage in one hand an a 12 in the other. .haha.. won't be a good night for ya', thats for sure! ;)
