i'm 17, an got me a 95 dodge peeon (neon) . its a great starter car, cheap, good gas mileage, parts are wayy common and cheap, & it doesnt really matter if i beat it up a bit. 1500 dollas, and it only had like 80,000. but if i were you i'd look into about any 4 cylinder, cheap and cheap to drive.

lol...quote of the year....

wow...gray, that was the stupidest comment ever.. not only was it extremely immature, but it was down right pointless...

Not everyone has had a job since they were 14. or their parents bought them a car. I just turned 16, and got my license, but i dont have a vehicle, and if i play my cards wrong, i wont have a vehicle for a while... some poeple have different priorities. So you have an old "pos" mustang as you call it, and a truck, what you said was stupid, who cares that you spoiled yourself if it was your money or your parents, he didnt ask about your perfect little driving situation, he asked what a good recomended car would be for a 17 year old teenager who needs a car to go from point a to point b. so please, stop gloating about your "sweet rides" and just try to help the guy out by answering his question.

back to the original subject.

ide go with a small car, toyota, honda, acura, any1 you can find, even some small 4cyl trucks..all goodon gas, and the truck u could put your quad in.

I would get a 1g or 2g eclipse. They look good and dont cost much. The gsx and gst are the fast ones that come with turbo.

i would reccomed the 4 bangers like the rest of the guys have said.. im getting about 10-11 mpg's in my truck and well... mcdonalds wont support that lol.... check a few sites for reliability ratings like consumer reports...

If you dont care what you have buy a geo metro. I was toled that the manual geo metros get like 50mpg and can be found super cheep.

Which 450?
04-08-2008, 04:35 AM
I have a 1987 s-10 with a 4 banger, 25 mpg, plus you have a bed. Plus, depending on your state, you could get historic tags and ins and pay a fraction of something that isnt.

If it's simply a small, cheap car with good gas milage and good reliability, go with Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. Excellent reliability, especially in the older models that you'll be looking at.

Ford always made fairly decent full-size trucks, but the older model cars were lousy. Even their mid-size trucks and SUVs were lousy, like the Explorer (terrible transmissions). Chevy isn't any better in the small-car department. Same issue. Chevy makes decent trucks, lousy cars.

Anything with the word "jeep" on it is a money-pit. Stay away.

Listen to me when I tell you. Honda, Toyota, Nissan.

Well, yeah, you're probably NOT going to see too many problems with a 2006 and 2007. Not too many cars break down with only a few thousand miles on them.

We're discussing OLDER cars, the type a 16yr old would be buying himself, most likely well over 100,000 miles.

I'm surprised your mom hasn't had problems at 190,000 miles. Most of my friends with Jeeps saw LOTS of problems after 100,000 miles. Clutches, transmissions, brakes, gasket leaks, you name it. Problem problems problem. However, the Hondas and Toyotas weren't plagued with the same problems. My father's little Toyota Pickup had over 350,000 miles before my brother finally wrecked it. I had two Hondas myself that had over 250,000 miles each. All of my friends had similar results. The Hondas and Nissans ran forever, while the american-made small cars were constantly breaking down, and the jeeps were the worst of all.

So to answer your question, no. I never owned a Jeep. Why would I? I saw too many of them breaking down around me, I wasn't about to go through that myself. I bought myself a Honda instead.

i just cant beleve that,
the only thing my mom has had done to her jeep was water pump, alternator and new raditor i aways thought jeeps were the next best thing to sliced bread. and i know toyota honda and nissans are good not sure about the new ones but my boss has a 87 nissan and it has to have atleast 200,000miles the only thing that has been done is he made a steel bed for it. i drive it every once in awhile and its a really solid truck for the mileage espicaly for being a plow truck for 4yrs if i had the money i would look for a truck like his cus diesel is killing me

that jeep is 13yrs old and still runs like new
we must of got one he!! of a jeep then lol
i dont care if i need to put a new engine in it tomorrow i grew up around that jeep and im never going to get rid of it. i wont let my parents sell it
