last night i dynoed my cr500 conversion.

highst run was 51.50, Started at 50.3, (i got the sheet for that) but the ink was running out so i didnt get any other runs printed.

Ill get some pics of the bike, Riding today i toasted the engine. Not shure what happened but there where several known problems with the engine, cylinder is warped needs bore, and the piston skirt was cracked, Ill see what actualy is wrong with it.

Well a pipe custom made for the conversion. Small uni filter, 38mm PWK. I ported it and it didnt come out anything like i expected, Lots down low and lots up top but theres a big flat spot in the middle. I think i can clear it up with needles, but since i gota tear it appart anyways i might just change the porting a bit.

A year ago my Shee on the same dyno put 48.9

My 06 TRX450 that night got 44.46 Its got a 15:1 compression, hrc cam, airboxeliminator, HMF pipe, Ported, Dynatek igntion. I think the cam is really holding it back.

that 450r needs a new cam! thats a pretty stock like cam, look into something like a baldwin or something, they make great cams for tt, xc and mx. Mark can suite any needs you might have!

I really like the neon green 450.. it looks good.

When i had a webcam in my 450, i kept having problems with valves..
It ended up having to get the whole top end rebuilt, Well i went with a sparks cam... and lemme tell ya.. it was night and day compared to my old webcam. I couldnt believe it. I drag raced a 06 450r with the HRC kit with full curtis sparks exhaust, i beat him by at least 5 lengths 8 out of the 10 races...

this was on the road, with both bikes at stock gearing.

38 carb is no where big enough for the 500. I use a 42.5 in my LT500 and my builder recommends that I could go to a 44 or 48 if I wanted more power. Also your stinger looks a little small, I believe Im at ~3/4" on the silencer inlet and ~1" for the silncer internal baffle. You should be able to get more power from the CR. His LT motors can be built in the 65-75 hp range, but before you ask no I dont have any proof aside from my butt dyno :D

makes my LRD TRX seem like its a 300ex now though. haha

What year engine? If I remember right 86-88 where the fastest cr500 engines.

The 38 is big enoguh for it. Its a track bike not a drag bike i want the power down low and forthat i need a smaller carb. I had a 41 on it and didnt like how it ran, Killed all my bottom end. I didnt get the torque off the engine but i think it would be HUGE. This isnt a hp bike its ment for low end.

the measurements on the pipe are the same off of a FMF for a cr500, With the large part of the expansion chamber larger than the 500.
The stinger is large enough.

Its an 86

just trying to help you get better power, if you dont want to listen, thats cool with me. FMF sucks. If you couldnt tell from my screen name, mine is not a drag bike and tons of lowend with the 42.5, maybe its the powervalve then. :D

run a FMF pipe, then switch over to a sparks, LRD, PT, ESR, or just about damn near ANY other pipe on a 2stroke and it will be clear as day

Fmf makes a NICE smooth pipe, Power delivery is always nice and smooth on them, No hard powerband hit to them. Where the others feel like they hit harder but really arnt making any more power. The Pipe isnt a fmf it was just based off of the cr500 fmf pipe. And if you havent noticed, Fmf and PC are realy the only companies that make pipes for dirbikes. I really dont care what you think Im not a big fan of fmf.

I build all my own engines, So what your sugjesting that i do i have already tryed. and i didnt like it. Im very happy with the power on it and thats all that matters.

FMF blows for 4 strokes? Adam McGill is Racing for KTM and uses the FMF exhaust and won 2 out of the 3 GNCC races.

Team Epic (can-am) is using FMF as well.

IT BLOWS!. hah

they use fmf bc they are sponsored by them not bc they like them (as far as i know)

TheNewn

Do you really think KTM could not get a sponsorship by another exhaust company if FMF was so terrible? Why would they accept the sponsorship to begin with if it made them less likely to win?

I'm sure the KTM techs have tested quite a bit and decided FMF was 'good enough' to win on. And they are winning.

well see the thing is if the rider likes were the pipe makes the power then it's good. but there may be alot of people that don't like it like the other rider. i'm sure they can have whatever they want but who knows.
