Whats everyone doing for brackets for the Lower Radiator and the Coolant Bottle when converting an Air Cooled to Water Cooled? One of our new DRR50's has the brackets and one does not, WTF?

I have a couple Ideas but would like to hear what others have done in this situation.

I had Dave Carter build me a bumper to fit the rad in so i did have to make brackets <a href="http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/nicholsatvs/?action=view&current=metrakit011.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/nicholsatvs/metrakit011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Looks good Heath...

Our 90 came with all the holes to mount the radiator bracket to. I ordered all the stuff from Gary/DRR to make the conversion work. All bolted right up.

I drilled 2 holes in the bottom front rail to bolt the bracket onto the frame. I had to use two nuts as spacers between the bracket and the frame to get the top holes to line up, and it is working great. I will try and take a pic of it in the morning. JR

LOL, thats what I am am planning but with some aluminum spacers with the lower bracket turned around the opposite of what they want it if you had the brackets. Glad to hear someone else has thought of it and tried it with good results.

Anyone have a picture of a DRR water cooled with all the stock colling parts on it? I have four hoses and am not sure which hose goes where on thsi thing.

Thanks

The LC cylinders that are shipped with the conversion kit are "probably" not the same performance cylinder that comes on the LC units that ship currently from the factory.

Look at the exhaust port....If it is a very definitive D-shape rather than a more open/oval shape it is the original cylinder they used in 07 and provides less performance, BUT does provide more meat for a porter to work with, so that is the cylinder we order when sending them off to get worked

Also-We like the std compression head better than the HC heads (at least the batch of heads we rec'd in a parts order)

You could dyno both heads to let us know head to head results :)

So what you're saying is that the larger/oval exhaust port is "Better" than the smaller/D shaped port? The way I had understood this was that the Exhaust ports were already too big on these motors?

As soon as i get at least on of the bikes back together it will be immediately strapped down and some testing will be under way.

The 2008 LC 50s out of the box with the bigger exhaust port seem to perform better than the orignal LC50s from early 07 with smaller exhaust port.

This being said....We use the smaller ported cylinder when have them ported...

and when it comes back the exhaust port is bigger then the D shaped version, but smaller then the std oval port from the cylinder that is stock on the quad in 08 out of the box.

The heads we send are the HC heads since there is more meat to work with....
