Maybe I'm just being dumb, but do the tie rod ends need to be pressed into the pittman? I can't seem to figure out any other way to get them installed? I thought tightening the nut would pull the stud through the hole, but the stud just spins. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. It shouldn't matter, but it's an '06 Raptor 700.

There should be two flat spots on the stud to fit an open end wrench.

There isn't. There is just the tapered part that seats inside the pittman and the threaded part that also has a hole in it for the cotter pin.

Clamp it with vice grips or something and then put the nut on it will hold this way. You need to press it into what you call the "pitman" and it will stop spinning, then put the nut on.

Thanks, I'll see if I can make that work. Yeah, I'm not sure what it usually called but I'm refering to the plate at the bottom of the steering column. I got "pitman" from the Yamaha drawings.
