So me my two brothers and my dad all went out and bought the 525 outlaw. We all love them and are starting to do our mods on them. We are trying to get the best bang for our buck so I am taking my quad and am going to start with the least exspensive and see what works and gets the best results. After each mod we are going to go out and drag against the three other stock 525s and see what the difference is. We will keep you posted.
The first mod we did was a simply taking off the air box lid. We found it made no real performance difference but it did make the bike sound alot more throutyer, a nice sound. Next we put on a K and N filter. There was a slight improvment on the pull in the bottom end but it took alittle away on the top end as the other quads would slowly pull on it after we went through all the gears.
I think this has alot to do with the jetting and that will be our next mod as soon as my jd jet kit showes up in the mail. After that I will be putting on a 4.1 fmf pipe and then finally a fmf mega bomb header. If any of you have any other ideas or mods I might have mised besides engin work as I want to keep it stock then let us know. We will keep you posted.

Taking off your airbox lid without proper jetting is a bad idea. These bikes come from the factory lean as it is. Once you get the jet kit you can also modify the stock exhaust by taking a baffle out of it. Give you some more sound and it's free.

i'm telling you from a 525 owner to a 525 owner, screw the FMF pipe seriously man its a waste of money. Go with CT racing or duncan they show the Graphs with massive gains, I called FMF and they said 4.1 with mega gives only 6-8 Hp gain, were CT for like 540.00 gives 10Hp with there complete!!!

http://www.ctracing.com/new_page_2.htm
http://www.fmfracing.com/techsupport/dynoroom.aspx (Exactly)

you tell me $534.95 for 10-11Hp or $949.98 for 6-8Hp

i would definitely go with the full CT Racing exhaust system. I broke down and bought it and with the jetting right boy this exhaust is just down right nasty. It now made the 525 hook up and pull in all the gears and has more top end. I drag with my brother who has a kfx450 with powercommander, dasa exhaust, fox evols hiper rims and he has a hard time keeping up with me. that is enough proof for the exhaust to win me over. It Also sounds great.

I already bought the fmf 4.1 and the mega bomb but I will convince onr of my brothers to get the ct system so we can do a head to head comparison. a dyno lof is one thing but actual usable hp is another. I will let you know what we find so others can make the right choice.

the end cap on the pipe has 3 hex screws i believe take them off the cap and baffle will come out i think in one piece. I had mine removed before i got the ct system, you can go on ebay and get just a new end cap.

My brother and I have already compared both and he just finished replacing his FMF for a CT Exhaust like I have. The CT Exhaust has makes more torque and HP. So for real USABLE Hp you will need a Ct pipe,Check out my graph. JUST ASK all the Ct owners on this forum.

He has the Mega Bomb! I guess Brhaminator I am going to get the CT or the Motoworks when it gets released in a few weeks. They are saying it should have the same gains as the CT.

Oh and thanks for the tip on the baffle. I am going to remove it for our dune trip in 15 days.

Anyone else near ST ANTHONY's ?

Oh and is the baffle conected to the end piece on the pipe? If i take it off do i have to get a new end piece for the pipe? Is it loud?

That screen you take out that every one calls a baffle is a spark arester.

The fmf header with the chamber is not proven to add any power from what I have heard and is a total marketing ploy.

I may end up with a ct eventually from what it sounds like. I would love to compare it to my Alba. I think the alba is a top end pipe and hurts the low end. Problem is that the KTM retards the timing on the top end while the pipes power comes in..
