Which Crank Should I buy??????

I think that I have read every possible thread about the crank problems on the early 450r's and have come to realise 2 things!!:(

1 I still have no idea which bearings are giving the most trouble,is it the rod bearings or the main bearings or a bit of both?:confused:
2 What is the best crank/bearing setup to buy for replacement of the old crank??
Honda or Hotrods??

I usually favour Genuine Honda parts but will listen to your advice or experience of both.

I could do with knowing what you think ASAP so that I can get one ordered from the USA,they are about half the price compared to here in the UK:mad:

Would you use Honda's bearings and seals aswell??

Will this be a fix for the original problem or just a repair until next time??

My 450r is a 2005 with the HRC kit standard with everything else.

I just did mine like 4 months ago. I used all Honda parts except for a CP 12:1 piston. I also added an 02 CRF cam. The extra power is nice. The collar on the updated crank is supposed to fix the problem. Read the crank thread at the top of the page for the part # on the updated crank. Your local dealer probably won't have a clue what you are talking about. Make sure you replace the timing chain while it's a part.

Looks like its time to spend some money....AGAIN:( !!!.

Is there a shop you would recommend for the parts that might ship internationally to the UK??.:confused: ,a crank in the UK is close to the equivalent of $500 WITHOUT gaskets seals etc.

I have read in the Crank mod Sticky that Service Honda sell the updated cranks for $193 but they dont ship to the UK.

Just had an official price back form my Honda dealer ($500 was an estimate)
