Do you use a 2-way radio while riding with others?

What kind do you use, and what do you like/dislike about it?

Do you use a helmet mounted radio like the Chatterbox? or a handheld type FRS/GMRS?

Do you use helmet speakers/mic?

Do you use the VOX function of the mic?
and does surrounding noise/engine noise screw up the VOX function?
or do you use a handlebar mounted PTT button?

What brand/model do you use, (Radio, and/or, speakers/mic)?

What kind of range do you get?

That's about all I can think of to ask right now, but any other info or comments are welcomed.

I have no personal experience. But I do recall running across this thread from another forum...

It might provide you with some leads.

My Father in law and I use the Yasue VX170 Radio and Motocomm headset with handlebar Push To Talk (PTT)

We are very happy with the set up. The range is good, battery life is very good, the motocomm head set is not the best but it fit our budget.
If I had more cash I would have got this headset http://www.pciraceradios.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=4192137297065314305

If you want more info PM me your e-mail address. I bought them from a guy who races SCORE and he set me up with the complete package, programming and antennas.

Also do a search on Thumpertalk in General, XR650/600 and Baja forumns. There is a ton of info there

I have been intrested in this for a while. and have read/watched alot of good reviews on them. hope this helps. Personally I would stay away from any bluetooth applications on the bikes, in the helmets, etc.
Too much surrounding noise, and besides the time dalay just drives me freakin' NUTS !
PTT All the way for me.
No noise setting them off, and they work when you want them to.

I suppose if we were riding quite roads on big fat Honda Goldwing cruisers, that might be one thing, but with modified exhausts, on offroad machnes, going balls to the walls, bouncing off of ruts and rocks,....
Naw,.... I'm just not sold on the bluetooth thing.

Hell, I don't even like using them (Bluetooths), driving my Freightliner down the freeway ! they just suck in the noise and the wind.

just my .02 cents
