I am looking at a used 2001 300EX but I wanted to know how it compares to the 400EX. I know that the 400EX is faster and better and all that but how much slower is the 300EX than the 400EX in acceleration and top end? Also about how high can its suspension handle if your landing on flat land?

best way to describe it is NIGHT AND DAY difference

you cant even compare them...400ex beats the 300 in all categories except reverse...

On a 300ex you cant jump very high before the suspension will bottom on flat land!

I've only riden a 400ex once and it was on a straight-away but somebody told me that the 300ex corners better, but I am not sure so I might be wrong.

I'm just wondering about how much faster the 400EX is than the 300EX and about how high its suspension can handle when landing on flat ground.

well it depends how you land on flat ground , you can bottom a 400 on flat ground if you dont land it correctly, land with the rear first and it wont bottom unless you go like 7ft in the air, and yes the 400 FEELS like itis aton faster, but do a dragrace until the 300 is at redline in 5th against a 400, there isnt that big of a difference, the 300 seems like it corners better cause you are going slower into the corner, also it is lower to ground i think, i mean seat is lower, so that makes it feel less tippy, i have had both and both are GREAT quads, i would suggest going and test riding a 300, then if it is good enough for you buy it. trust me you can make it better than a 400 easily in my opinion, the 300 is a great trail quad, it is so fun to rip around trails on, while the 400 does it thing [for me atleast] on an mx track, ok and about the suspension, i have a pic of me jumping over my trek 6000 mountain bike and landing on flat ground , i did not bottom and i remember measuring the jump to be 35ft long and i cleared the bike by about 3ft at the handlebars so it was like 6ft high

No.. i know the 400ex handles better youd be dumb to think it didnt, the suspension is night and day.. I have 1000 + worth of suspension and it just compares to a stock 400.. you can liven the 300up but youd just put to much in it to compare to a 400 when you could have just bought the 400 and pimped that out.. and 400s are going so cheap these days.. But I can make my 300 do bout anything a 400 can. :blah

If your not to experienced its better to go with the 300 and work your way up. It also depends how big you are ect. I have road both and they are pretty different. The 400ex is faster, bigger, and better suspenion. The 300ex is still fast but not as fast, If you know how to jump right you won't bottom out. What was said before land on your back first. (After doing that so much I keep having to reweld my swingarm!) :grr

I think the 400 is better because of more power and better handling. But just for trail riding and having fun with your buddies a 300 is just fine. The 300 handles very well too and has plenty of power for trails in the woods. Both pretty good at hillclimbing too.

well my friend learned his lesson , he got a 400ex as his first quad and i swear i can beat him around a course on foot! if he started on something slower and learned he would have been a good rider, like me! but no he had to have the 400 because it is so much faster and handles good, so what if you cant handle it dont get it, you idiot
