No problems that I'm aware of, reverse was added in 05', but that didn't create any reliability problems.

You can't go wrong with any year EX. They are arguably the most bulletproof sport atv built.

Everyone has always described the 400EX as Bulletproof, so I decided to check it out to make sure.

I just went out to the garage and tried pumping 6 rounds from my .44mag into my bike, and could not belive what happened.

yup, you guessed it,..... they all just bounced right off !!!

I'd have never belived it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes  ;) :D

I was all excited when I bought my '07, which is the first quad I've ever owned. I got a bunch of crap from some friends I work with, should have bought a Suzuki, should have gotten a Polaris, or a Banshee, or Raptor...blah blah blah. So I told them that I got a great deal on the bike, Honda's are known for being reliable motors and most importantaly I've heard that you could flip one of these things into a lake, pull it out, fire it off and ride away. Everyone's response:

"Yeah, they are pretty indestructible."

Point made.

i just bought mine recently..and the main reason i bought a 400ex was of reliability..

ive always bought things in the past to be the fastest etc...and finally for once i bought something with reliability in mind over all else

i was told the same thing..buy this buy that blah blah blah
but i have my reasons for the 400ex..and im happy with it..its got enough balls to have fun n play..i dont race and i dont need to do 65+ through trails just something to beat the hell out of

tri5ron- i just had that pictured in my mind, made me want to try it with my smith and wesson .44 with custom loaded rounds that will go through an engine block with ease.

but back to topic, these bikes are 'bullet'proof.

wasnt there a recall on 2005's?
i remember there was cuz when i was gonna trade mine in, i had to get a 2004 because they wouldnt sell me the two 2005's they had.
i think the recall was somethin to do with the reverse switch and the spring inside it, if im not mistaken
