Hey I got a 400ex that I really can't get rid of but need way more power. I was thinking a crf450, yz450, or a yz426 motor. Anyone have experiences with any of these motors? good or bad. Also how easy was the install? Let's see your hybrid and your opinion on it. I am open to anything.

i just got my YZ426 hybrid about a month ago, and i absolutely love it. it pulls all the way to the rev limiter. i have been through this bike to fix some of the quick fixes they did to get rid of it, like the throttle cable, wheel spacers, and a few bolts that were left loose. but from what i can see, it is fairly easy to install a 426 into a 400EX frame. the only thing that i dont like is the way the carb has to angle to attach to the intake tube from the airbox. here is a pic, the only one i have so far. any more questions feel free to ask

i know the crf motors are extremely similar to a 2006+ 450r, the crf 450r motor is a really strong engine, and it pulls really good. take a 450r for a ride and compare it to a 400ex, the trx is a little less powerful than the crf engine.

I know there is a kit that a member on this site sells to transfer a yz426 motor in a 400ex frame..has anyone purchased this or have it on their quad? Right now i am leaning to a yz426 motor because of this kit and I have heard good of this motor. I need all the help I can get so just throw anything you have out there.

yeah, ss440ex is who you are thinking of. my bike has one of his kits in it minus the oil tank. someone installed the wet sump kit in my motor. i have no problem keeping up with 450's and 700's anywhere.
