break in?

ok I bought a new set of cams for my kfx440 and it says in the instructions to ride it for 30 min over 3,000 rpm's, which would be no problem but I also replaced the rings and I've heard you have to be a little more gentle with the rings. So I was wondering if it will hurt the rings to ride over 3,000 rpm's, Thanks.

ive read both opinions on here. some say to break the rings in gently while others say to run the motor hard to break them in. i found this article in the 400ex forum...check it out
