ok well i got my quad back after it was stolen.now it smokes like frieght train!!so its time for a big bore.what size would be good for me?i like to ride trails, climb hills and wheelies.i have a stage 1 hot cam,hmf slip on and drilled air box lid.dont have a ton of money to spend on it.i also dont want to worry about it over heating.dont want to run race fuel either.i was thinking either a 416 or 426

id go with a good 416 10.8 :1 compression would work good with your stg 1, will leave you room to bore again later on if needed

Don't be so quick to bump it up to a 426cc. You would need heavy duty studs too if you go that big.

You could pull it apart and have it measured and just go .5mm over what the current cylinder diameter to clean it up. A new piston and rings and you'll be as good as new. Don't forget to replace the valve seals why you have it torn down.

Nothing wrong with a 406 or 416. You can do a 426 but the minor benefits aren't really worth using your last bore on the cylinder. I did a 10:1 416 with a stage 1 cam and am very happy with it. It's a lot snappier then stock was.

If you did want to go to the last bore or a big bore sleeve for a 426, 430 or 435 the cylinders studs aren't that big of an issue. You just need to install some steel inserts to give them a bigger foot print so they don't start pulling.

I'd say do a 416 first, you can always go to the 426 if needed. I'm going with a 416 11:1 comp motor with a P&P head and a stage 2 cam.

ok so 426 is as big as i can go without changing the sleeve?so a 416 will work so it leaves room for one more rebuild.now just gotta find a place around here that can do the bore work for me.

C&D racing has good prices thats where im taking my cylinder and head to be done.

Yes 426 is the biggest you can go without resleeving.
