I've read that a 91 cr250 jug bolts right on a R bottom. I was wondering If there is someway I can make the power valve work? I figure this is a swap that actually started the power valved cylinders everybody wants. I just need some info on how to make it work. If there is a way. What actuates the power valve on the after market cylinders? A buddy wants to buy the cr from me but I don't want to sell if I could use the jug and head and be power valved. Thanks

you have to do extensive mods to the clutch cover to make the cr powervalve parts fit, its not worth it. The aftermaket pv clylinders work from cylinder pressure, the cr's have linkeges.

On the aftermarket cylinders, the powervalve is actuated from exhaust pressure.

On the CR250, the powervalve is activated from the crank. I've heard of people putting the CR250 cylinder on the trx tranny, but they don't use the powervalve. It's almost impossible to get it to work, it would require so much money and modifications that it's just not feasible.

most people ran them for the modern cylinder porting design. There are aftermarket ones that do this as well but they cost more.

it takes alot of work to do it, for one, you need the cr250r complete clutch cover, tig welder, as well as all the parts for cr250r pv cylinder. I seen a website where someone did it, he likes it alot. He said somewhere on it, that he took a week or something off of work, bought a manaual for the cr250r and had a engineers help to make it work right. Its that really worth it???
