The youth gncc program is running strong as we just finished wrapping up round 3 at Steele Creek. While we usually do a report after each round, we were forced to combine the first 3 rounds due to time.

The series kicked off in sunny Florida, where many families turned the back to back rounds into a vacation. The fun aside, these kids are all business and couldnt wait to get 2008 started.

One thing you will see at the races (atleast at the GNCC events) is how respectful most of the kids are. They know how to listen to instructions and follow rules, and they have to. With the majority of the action taking place outside of our view, they must learn to make good choices and think for themselves.

After waiting out the cold winter, we were just a few minutes away from teh first tires to rip through turn 1 as 2008 was underway!

The new Super Mini class was first off the line and it was Seth Mumford grabbing the holeshot. This new class was designed so that there would be class seperation for 2 and 4 strokes even though 4 strokes can run in the class. The MX world might have a few 4 strokes that can hang with a Cobra for 10 minute moto's, but the hour long XC events combined with wide and fast tracks provide the mighty Cobra a mean hunting ground!

With teh scoring issues and assigning of bar code numbers that did not match riding numbers, telling which rider was which was difficult for many of us that were looking at these quads for the first time in 2008.

the course was plenty choppy and rough and just prior to scoring, there were some man made obstacles for the riders to conquer.

The palmetto roots were causing problems for a few riders as the beating was non stop.

It doesnt take much mud to make a mini rider really have to work to get going

Merrit had opened up a huge lead and Mumford would need a miracle to catch him, although he never let up!

Logan Fluharty was very happy as well he should be! Taking 2nd against some serious competition in a nasty race is something to be proud of!!:scary:

Joshua merrit took the overall, and Mumford took 3rd overall but it was another Honda on the podium with Logan Fluharty 's finish. That marked 2 rounds where Cobra did not sweep the top 3!

The podium celebration was running late and I had to get my son ready for the 10 am race so I did not get to see all three getting their awards:( Good race to all 3 of you!!!
