New Vette

I went the Auto Show in NY this past week and they had the new ZR1 Corvette,, 6.2L LS9- 620hp of pure american musle,, 600ftlbs of torque.. Love this thing

The lady that was talking about them said they sold the rights to purchase the first one in the Barrett Jackson Auction for 1 million.. They said they are only making 2000 of them with 500 of them going over seas.. Starting price is 100k.. But you know as well as I do they are going to be getting ALOT more than that for them..

The ZO6 hurts the FORD GT, so that ZR1 is going to be in the top 10. Go to Youtube and watch all the cars that the ZO6 race's and beats. It beats everything! Most of the SuperSport Cars (Lambo's, Porshe, Ferrari's) will get the ZO6 in top speed, but not in a short distance race. The ZR1 has a top speed well over 200mph!

I believe Jay Leno helped with that auction, so I'm sure he is getting one. 2 down, only 1498 left.

You forgot to mention the sick, extremely efficient blower that sits atop the mighty 6.2L :devil:

And the Ford GT uses a twin screw blower (efficient, but less efficient than the new vette blower) and a 5.4L V8. So not exactly apples to apples here but I give the new vette props in the supercar department!

the ZR1 is SICK, but i'm not sure if its gonna beat the Ford GT "all around"

The GT was designed from the ground up to be a supercar. The ZR1 is a sports car, a C6 corvette, with a more powerful engine, upgraded suspension, and some carbon fiber. Even if the vette ends up being faster in the straight I think the GT would still be a better overall supercar...

Also, I know you can get HUGE power gains from the GT by simply a pulley change and a tune. This may end up being true for the vette too, not sure yet...

All that being said, I would drive either car without any complaints :D

I like the Ford GT but the ZR1 would spank it on any track at any test. The ZR1 is actually more exotic than the GT. Ferrari enzo brakes, carbon fiber body panels, hand built engine, titanium rods and the list goes on. This is the definition of a super car. It may be built off of the sports car/gt classified vette, but thats about where all the comparisons between this car and a sports car end. This car is the fastest accelerating production car EVER.

Vette's and I dont get along. i dont fit in them. my head hits the roof, i have to bend my neck at an extreme angle to sit in one

thats a problem. i feel bad for you. i read in Motor trend that they are building 2000 of them per modle yr, not just 2000 of them period. i believe that i also read that they will retail for about 120K. they are brilliant cars, but i still like the lambo better

see what you guys aren't seeing is that the vette is one of the only AMERICAN super cars that was fully american designing and engineering. minues the brakes that they stole.

From what the lady was saying at the Auto show she said that this ZR1 is an extremely limited production car.. She said that they are only going to make 2000, for the year 2009, after that they are gone.. She also said that this car will also corner at over 1G.. That's pretty inpressive..

haha they are sick. and to the guy that said its a modified corvette? The Z06 and ZR1 share a custom hyroformed aluminum frame, unlike the steel frame of a regular vette.


The Z06 and Nissan GTR are the best bang for the buck supercar you can get, period.
