I am getting ready for Rumble on the Ridge ride next weekend. Typically the Ohio clay gets very thick and very heavy. Last year we had to sport cut my sons 400EX on site. He mentioned that my Z's back fenders were flopping around like Dumbo's ears. What ideas are out there for reinforcing the back fenders? I was thinking about running a piece of curved metal bracket from the grab bar all the way out to the edge of the fenders.

I had problems with KFX400 on the track the brackets holding the fenders kept cracking then they would flop all over. I did what you said put a flexable metal band on that was about 2" wide and fastened it to the four screws holding plastic down then out at the ends attached to fenders with finish screws.

Hey Joe, taking the wife to her first "Rumble" next weekend, can't wait! :D
Anyway, I learned about 4-5 years ago when I took my Z to it's first rumble, the mud literally broke the tabs off on the rear fenders. So I fabbed up this mount, all steel:

Cool fix ! you could make taps a little longer and it would be stronger and less flopping but it looks great ,I ride in Md and mud is like that too but never had it bend the metal before. By the way were did you get rear light ,mine broke off whats it off of ? and how much?

It's a LED light from Auto-Zone for like $20.

Here is a picture of what I did. The metal band goes all the way across.

I ended up fabricating the metal brackets and they did a great job on the first lap, unfortunately on the second lap they spun around because I did not fasten them to the end of the fenders and they broke the plastic tabs off of both sides. Now I need to figure out how to correct this without drilling any holes through the plastic. I want to keep the look of the Z clean.
