I'm in the market for one of these also, my kfx is a good trail/woods quad but i'm gunna need sutn for the track when i sell my yfz....whats the best year and what problems do they usually have???

I am set up as a desert racer, so I can't really comment on it for a track machine, but it has proven to be a solid reliable cross country machine!

mine is set up for MX and i love it and wouldnt choose anything else. BTW mine is an 04

I just got my 04 MX450R last Monday rode it yesterday... I am in love with it. I wouldn't want any other bike. Though it was my first time using it.

Buy a 2004 or 2005 Honda TRX450R. The 2006 and up Honda's have transmission problems. You can get great deals on used 2004 and 2005 Honda TRX450R. These quads handle better than anything else. These give a smoother power delivery compared to YFZ's.

I love my 05 450R! I wouldnt ride anything else, unless it would be a fully xc set up ktm525 haha

I can tell you what other people will tell you, you can take a look at who last years ama champion was and what he was riding(a honda). There was 5 honda 450's in the top 10 last race and the top 4 placed 2,5,6,7 i think. I'm setting my 450r up for mx and i picked it for a reason.

i got a great deal on a used 05 and i love it, very reliable and easy to work on, smooth power, and great handling

wasnt that the 04 and 05s that had transmission problems? or was that a crank? i forget which one it was

the 04 and 05 had crank problems but not many do anymore most have been fixed, the 06 and up have the transmission problems i beleive.

yes that is right. i remember reading in dirtwheels that the 06's had transmission problems on really modified ones. i do believe that they fixed it for the 07 and 08's, but im not sure
