I thought I wouldn't like the kick stater, but now that I have one....I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

You absolutely do have to know the starting drill however!

cons on e start = one way clutch (if you dont know how to use it)
and it usually takes a couple seconds to start

cons to kicker = well you have to kick it, if there is a problem your
going to kick your brains out

I've got friends with 400ex's and 300ex's and my friend with the 300 has to push start his in the trails latley cause of a dead battery, but with a kick start you dont have to worry about a battery just kick it!

I absolutely LOVE my kickstart! I came from a 300EX (Electric start) never had any problems with it or anything. But i would rather my kicker.

Starting Drill:

Cold-Press the throtle several times. The pumper will inject raw fuel and that will prime the system. Full choke. Starts first kick every time, but with the choke on the engine will race...not good for a cold engine with cold oil! Immediately turn the choke down to get the idle speed down, and baby the throtle for a minute or two until it warms and will idle on its own.

Hot-Absolutely do not touch the throtle!!! The extra fuel will flood it out very easily...and you will be kicking it all day to clear it out. Hold down the hot start button and it will start first kick every time. Only give it throtle after it has already come to life.

if you just had the money to blow on one why not have the best of both worlds an e-start with a back up kicker??? i have a e-start and a kicker like them both!! alot of people on here have the e-start with back up kicker added!! just my 2 cents worth though!

I had an 06ER and hated the thing. It just wouldn't start. I love my 07 kicker and if Honda has a kicker in 09 that's what I'll get as well. They need to completely redesign the E-start system for me to ever think about that again.

I Have an 06er, never have had a problem with it starting. Choke on, pump the gas a few times, hit the botton and shazam

Same exact way mine is...Ive got both a kicker and an electric start and dont have a bit of problem with either. Both have the exact same starting procedure when cold. Choke it pump it and kick it/hit the button........only thing is if the electric start aint gonna start you may still feel like workin on it, if the kick start aint gonna start after you kick your guts out then you kind of have that "fu** this thing for now im going to the house" attitude haha
