Most power at the lowest dB. ;)

All depends on what quad it's for.

That would be really nice. Unfortuantely for a 400ex the 2 best performing exhaust are also the loudest. (1. Curtis Sparks & 2. HMF) Its hard to make an exhaust with great gains but is also at a lower dB. If you look at Curtis Sparks and HMF, Curtis Sparks inlet, inside, and outlet is over or around 2". Same thing with HMF. Its a free flowing thing. Its almost like an extension to a straight pipe but much quieter, more gains, and better sounding. Yes they make quiet cores and such and all they do is restrict the flow from a 2" opening to a 1" opening or so. So obviously the flow is making it louder. There are companies like Lexx out there now... they make a great looking and sounding exhaust (much lower dB than most exhaust) and boast gains that would be up near Curtis Sparks or HMF. People that have tried it said its a nice exhaust. Pretty good gain, but still not nearly as good of power as HMF. What I think needs to be done is what several pros have on their exhaust. There is a chamber that runs off after the header bend and it lowers the dB on the exhaust so it is able to race under that 99dB limit without sacrificing power. Why is it that the pros have this but you never see it on the average consumer. Even FMF has taken a step towards lowering dB by making a chamber in the header. (Powerbomb & Megabomb headers) I think the key to obtaining good power and lower dB is to have a free flowing exhaust like Curtis Sparks or HMF, BUT sound reduction should take place in the header alowing the machine to have the HP they started with but lower sound.

They're coming. Just takes a bit for new technologies to trickle down. There are a few available for purchase for certain machines.

I imagine we'll see more manufactures and applications before too long. Don't know if we'll ever see that type of design for something like a 300EX though [shrug].

Nice find and yes it might take some time for them to be made for quads other than 450's. I love my HMF, it has a nice tone and the power gain is great. I just wish it was toned down a bit without the use of a quiet core. The quiet core resrictsthe flow therefore your not getting the power you had before using it. My options with my slip on to quiet it down without the use of the quiet core would be to buy a FMF powerbomb header. I makes it a deeper tone and it lowers the dB. With the FMF Powerbomb though there isnt really a power gain so I cant justify paying $200 or so for something to make your exhaust maybe 2dB lower and making it shiny. Hopefully more companies introduce a system like the ones you pictured and hopefully they trickle down quick to things other than 450's.

Those sound reduction chambers are nice but they only work at a certain RPM, which happens to be the RPM that is tested. The resonance chamber will only affect the sound greater at whatever RPM the chamber is tuned for...

I have a FMF Powercore4, and i love it. Good power gains all the way through, and the sound is a lot better then HMF, my opinion only.

White bros E-seires and ct racing, the disk exhausts made the most hp in a 400ex slip on shoot out and beat HMF. TC racing actually gave the 400ex zero top end on the dyno with tc shorty made 25hp only.

Most mufflers are basicaly the same except for the exhaust canisters and logo. People with quads make a huge fit over which muffler is the best when the only real differance is the size of the core and langth of the muffler which can give differant power and decibles. Every one knows that 2"-2.25 cores give the best power. Any smaller than that and your not making all the power you could be.

Thats mufflers only
