new cam .replace timing chain?

my cousin has a 2004 trx450r . it has the original stock piston and rings in it .motor still has great compresion .( he changes oil alot )he wants to put a drop in cam in .should he replace the timing chain with a new cam ?also should he even change the cam for fast woods riding ? thanks

Chains don't wear out that easy. Like a car, don't know of any quads that have belts, a timing belt will get replaced any day over a timing chain.

As for the cam, I went with a 03 CRF 450R stock cam. I ride the woods and am loving it completely.
