View Full Version : engine nosie at idle

i have two new 07 ltr450s they are both stock and at idle they are noisy and i was wondering if this was comon? they both only have a bout a tank and a half ran through them. i called the dealer and all they want to do is sell me service, they wont take to the time to listen to it and tell me if it is normal or not. can any one help me?

it is like a knock or a tapping sound i have two of them and they both sound the same they have been that way since day one

idk what it is but mine does that 2 and so does my friends 450r and my friends kfx450, the 450r is really loud when it does it though

i finaly found a dealer to look at it but the are 200 miles away but i dont really want to hurt them so im going to wait to ride them i take them in on friday ill let you know what i find out are both of yours new

its perfectly normal. some of it might just be cuz its new and everythings just getting to be broke in. also the 450 motors are a high performance motor and make those kinds of noise because of how tight and packed everything is inside the motor. i know mine did it first day and still does it to this day but hasn't hurt anything. i wouldnt worry about it but i would get your valves adjusted again soon cuz of it being new and part of the noise could also be from that.

Mine and my friends both do the same thing. I have a '06 with two seasons on it and it has not stopped, but it isn't extremely loud. If you're using pump gas the knock will continue, but if you use race fuel it will stop. Either way it isn't going to hurt the bike.

yea mine does it so does my friends kfx yfz trx. ^^^ and yea the TRX is rediculously loud when it does it. But yea its normal

Does anyone know why it does this is it piston noise or valve train noise I always thought it was lifter noise.
