I just bought an R that has a duncan PC2000 265 cylinder. It has a 36mm PJ carb, I was wondering if I should switch it out for a PWK. When I had my old R with a stock cylinder, all the comapines I talked to said I needed to ditch the stock PJ. They said they were out dated and a mikuni TMX or kehin PWK would greatly improve the performance just by the newer technology. I went with the mikuni TMX 36mm on my old R and loved it, it was a huge difference. But I saw on duncans site if you order a new pv kit it comes with the 36PJ and I figured after 20 years of building R motors they would sell them with a good carb. Do you guys think I would be better off switching to a TMX or PWK?

38 mm A/S is a great choice , but I have a duncan racing 36mm ported and flowed to a 37.3 and I havent had 1 problem with it on a 265 duncan PV 210 psi-and it fits the stock air boot easier
so it really comes down to you in the end

What all do you have to do to make the 38 A/S work with the stock air boot? Thats what I liked about the Mikuni TMX, ESR put an adaptor plate on the back so it mounted right to the air boot.

out of all the cars/quads i worked on, getting the stock boot to fit the air striker was the biggest ***** in the world. trust me it will fit but its a pain.

Use a hair dryer or something along those lines.

I didn't have a huge problem getting my air boot to fit my 38.

I took the entire air boot and carb off the quad, and used a pan of boiling water. I dipped the air boot into the boiling water about 3 inches (obviously on the side that mounts to the carb.)

The heat allows the rubber to stretch, and the water lubricates it just a little bit, just try not to get water into the carb.

Once the boot is on the carb, leave it there and allow it to cool. Once it's cool, it should hold it's shape and size when you take it off. Now it should fit fairly easily into the carb any time you want. However, if you heat it up again, it will shrink back to it's normal size.
