find out the size and look at hardware stores sometimes have stuff like that but an autoparts store will most deffinately have bulbs. You can buy online but i think its a rip off. For the 400ex bulbs... at an autoparts store I got 10 bulbs for the price of 2 online.

You are right. I also run the PIAA 35/35, and they are the best. I ride a lot at night especialy in winter, and I just light up the place with a bright white. You can get them from Rocky Mountain Atv, or even Ebay.

Not trying to steal the thread, but has anyone tried an HID conversion kit like this one? http://store.albaaction.com/shop/H6M-35W-6000K.html

Expensive, but I'm going to have plenty of disposable income when my current job contract is up in June. :D

hid's may cause a problem imo..
they have a set on ebay for $80 shipped with slim ballast that are water and vibration resistant..made for motorcycles/atv's but the problem that i think there may be is power..u may need a better battery/stater to power them im not positive.

even reading about the PIAA 45watt over the 35watt they may require a better starter so id think the HID's definitely would..

these are the HID's i was lookin at

That link's dead, looks like the listing ended or it was pulled

From what I understand, the HIDs only draw more power when they're first lighting up... After that, they'll draw normal power, 35 watts or whatever type you have. The ones I linked to were 35, so they should only draw that. Even if a stronger battery or starter is required, I'll just leave the lights off while starting.

sry for the link it must of ended
but u can easily search ebay for the h6m hid and find the slim kit..

i still think for ease of use though ill go with the PIAA...since its an easy plug n play without havin to figure where to mount the ballast etc..however if u do go with HID's plz post pics etc of the install and how great they look...

since i have considered them if it looks easy enough and works great id be mroe then interested.. :D

anyone know where we can get like $2 bulbs? PIAA is nice but why spend $30 on bulbs.. OEM is too expensive as is. Where and what bulbs do i look for?

When I get back to my bike in June, the lights are getting totally redone. The housing is loose, but I haven't been around the bike long enough to know exactly what's broken. Long story short, I bought it in June, it was in the shop til October bc the PO was an idiot and I had to have his mistakes fixed. I've been living out of hotels since October (I'm a contract pilot) and won't be home until June. At that time, the bike's getting a pretty good makeover. Fixing the lights (sketchy switch, burned out bulb, broken housing, etc...) is high on the list.

When I do it, I'll post up a solid install / review.

Ricky Stator sells some sweet H6M type bulbs for $10. They are not piaa's but they are quite a bit brighter than stock, thet give off a blue light, really helps in dunes & woods. The stock stator lites them with no battery problems since Christmas.

All the HID conversion kits I have found run at either 35w or 55w. I currently run stock head lights on my 400ex with a pair of 35w fog lights with no problem. I have run this set up all night before with no battery problems. It may be too much draw while you are idling, but seems fine when actually riding.
