ticking...

I finally got my 300ex back together, and stared her up and shes ticking. I tried adjustingthe valves...would bad rocker arms cause it to tick?

check you cam chain tensioner see if its holding the chain guide to the cam chain properly, when mine was bad (tensioner) it caused the chain to have slack and made a very noticeable ticking noise.If the spring is broke inside the tensioner it will make this noise because of the lack of tension on the chain guide.

fix it before it lets go all together!
my piston hit the valves ahh but i replaced it all and put a crf450 chain in it

It might be the crown of the piston slapping the side of the cylindner. But that's more of a loud noise that makes it so you can't hear the exhaust and sounds like someone left you a bunch of pennies in your rocker level.

well, its probably your cam chain, or your tensioner.
