id look into hotrods they seem to be popular, the rest of the mods seem good u might want to add HD studs to the budget

it seems that hotrods is the only thing out there. i hear good things about them but id like to have another company to compare to. where is the best place to buy the studs?

there mixed opinions if u neeed the studs , if u ride in the heat and realy run the heck out of the bike or ride in the dunes or alot of mud, id rather be safe then sorry then blow a headgasket and have to rip it apart again ,also how did u manage to bend ure rod ?

long story... i bought the bike a couple months ago and have been riding it around ever since with few issues. i noticed last weekend the head gasket was starting to leak. the bike had smoked a lil more than i liked so i decided to to freshen up the top end while i had the head off. when i got it all tore apart i saw a chunk missing out of the piston which led me to look closer at the rod. i was amazed to find that the was rod bent due to the fact that engine ran so smoothly and without any noises before i took it apart.

Hotrods sells complete crank/rod assemblies I believe but they aren't the only thing out there.

You could also go with an OEM Honda crank with high quality rods from Falicon or a Carillo H-beam rod.

I don't think I could take my engine apart that far and not stroke it a little. I'd go with a Hot Rods +4mm assembly. You'll want to install some steel inserts for the stock studs if you go this route. HD studs will do the same thing, just costs more.

i havent seen a stroker piston you can use with the 4mil that isnt 89mm and i dont think im quite ready to go a 460 yet. it is a consideration though.

I wanna know how you bend a rod? Lack of oil or something? too much compression?

i have no idea how this one ended up bent. i would like to know the story behind it. it only has 11:1 compression with a stage 1 cam i dont think thats enough to bend it but im new.

Detonation is one sure-fire way to not only bend, but break a connecting rod if it gets bad enough :eek2: Something's gotta give...

Not sure if this was the case in this particular motor though.
