I find when Im trail riding that I tend to be in between gears alot.

I was just wondering if any of you have changed your sprockets around.

Thanks

Robb

if you are on an 07, your stock gearing is 13/38, try picking up a 12 front, i love mine

That will stretch the gears correct

Im used to cars, not bikes. For an analogy lets say my quad have 4.11's stock but I would it change to 3.73's to stretch my gears out, thats what lowering the front sprocket will do.

Thanks again

Going to a lower front sprocket will do the opposite of ur analogy. It will make ur gears shorter.

also, going down one in the front is like going down 3 in the rear i believe is the conversion. Are you looking for more speed or more of an acceleration type ratio? Like the people have mentioned, dropping one in the front is great for more of an acceleration.

Either going fewer teeth in front or more teeth in back, will lower your gearing. You will gain low end power and acceleration (good for a trail rider), but at the expense of top end speed.

A 12 is very small, and tends to really be hard on the chain. If you have room in back, maybe try going 1 or 2 teeth bigger back there instead.

i run my 12 front up front when i have my 20" rear tires on but for the track i usually run 13/39

stock is 14/38 .....i run 13/39 which to me is ideal for 20" tires for x/c and agressive trail riding.and it just clears my prm skid also.:macho
