What do you guys think would be a good project quad?? I would want something that would mount in a 250r frame...but not a crf450 because thats a little too expensive for me.

Maybe a quadzilla motor or a 250r with a big bore, yz426, etc

How about a 350x motor in an R frame.Big bore the motor and mod the suspension.350's can be made incredibly fast. Some guys run xr500 top ends on them.

I thought about building a 350x and putting it in a moded 250x chassis.I have decided to stay with a 250 motor instead. My new project will be a moded 250x.I am buying one and redoing it from the ground up.Nothing to crazy on the motor.Mainly suspension mods.If it turns out well then I am looking into some kind of big bore or something.

Another interesting one would be a zilla motor in an R frame.Have saw that done a few times.

yes it will mount. There is a company that does this alot.Let me find the link real quick.

quadzilla, and kx500's would prolly be better, it aint gonna be huge for a yz250 motor in it, but a 350x is a good idea if it is only modded or hopped up

Man I think it would be awesome. It is making me rethink this whole 250x thing.I am going to stick with it though. That would be bad!

I am not sure if have an R frame already or not.If not you could probably find one for 500 bucks if not cheaper.Than the conversion for 550.Buy a ragged out 350x for 700 bucks. And you still got to buy the rest of the chassis stuff. It would be tight. It is possible though. If you really do this I will be more than happy to help you locate anything.

I have a 350x engine in a 250x frame. I bought it like this though, i didn't do the conversion myself. This thing rips!! I'm selling it if anyone is interested. If you have any questions about your project I'd be glad to try and help.

The non-counterballanced CR250 motor would vibrate way too much. Don't believe me? Take the ballancer out of your R motor and turn it a couple notches, then put it back in. You will not be able to ride it. Fischer is the only person that I have seen with a successful CR250 transplant. He hand built the frame, and every component on the quad for that motor. Then you're looking at $10K+

There was a TRX330RX around here for a little while. That thing was a blast. Bored/Stroked 250X(330cc), 250R frame, LSR a arms, axle, swingarm, etc. Very nice quad with ALOT of power. It is now somewhere down in South Louisiana.

yah you could be right but i'm just not sure if it would be ridable if they did some things to prevent vibration like expanding foam in frame and bars, rubber between mounts, anti vib stem, ect.
