I was just wondering... is it bad to hold in the clutch for extended periods of time? I always hold in the clutch for long stretches of time -- like going down a steep hill for like 1/2 mile or just coasting down a hill with the clutch in for a couple of minutes. I dont want to slow down and i just tell myself that it is ok because it is cooling down the engine. Will holding in the clutch for a long time while moving fast hurt the engine or anything else?

i don't see how it would hurt anything.

it doesn't hurt anything, its just like having your quad in neutral

I've heard that if you hold in your clutch, and rev for awhile, it's bad for it. Something about the pressure pin gets hot from the reving, and practically welds itself.

other than making you clutch plates just a hare softer, i cant imagine anything else, unless ur revving the balls out of it while ur doing it, which would cause other problems.

if you hold your clutch in for a while it wont do any serious damage but it does heat up the clutch plated and can cause premature clutch fade.

also on a liquid cooled bike it will only allow the water pump to be running at idle, as long as it's not electric. in turn making your bike over heat. but no won't cause any problems other than the ones listed.
