View Full Version : How do i set my valves?

I just bought an 05 yfz450 engine that was just rebuilt not long ago and had the oil mod and cam mod done. The guy i bought it from told me it should have the valves set, how do i do this?

The best advice I can give you is to either buy a service manual or find one of the "free" ones on the net and download it. Just FYI they are available on ebay for a buck or so (+ shipping) but all your buying is a cd with the same ones you can download off the net.

It really isn't that hard but it would take a lot of typing.

Ohh and you might want to at least edit your sig... :D

My response to your question would be, "If you have to ask the question of how to do it, you may not want to bother it yourself." If you don't have them adjusted correctly you could do some major damage.

yeah, if your not a good mechanic i wouldnt try it. you have to make sure they all seal. it takes alot of time and work. are you just adjusting them or switching them out? AND YOU REALLY NEED TO EDIT THAT SIG:eek2:

sigs changed haha i forgot about that, i just need to adjust the valves

Truth be told, daddogriders helped a lot of us, with directions and even videos of lots of yfz related stuff. Unfortunatly they dropped off the net a couple of years ago. I don't blame them, every time he posted anything someone would come along and try to make it sound like they didn't know what they were doing. The sad part is he never really claimed to be an expert, just someone trying to help....

I used to keep a lot of their vids on my laptop, well at least till that laptop died. :(
