What is good/better/ indifferent in a resister plug over a regular plug

Most resistor spark plugs use a "monolithic" resistor, generally made of graphite and glass materials, to filter the electrical voltage as it passes through the center electrode. This is mainly to prevent it from screwing up other electronical devices on boats or other out board motors. Ask me? Not needed for an ATV...only really usefull for newer boats.
