now that im making some money and working as a tech at the dealership, im getting the itch to get a bike. my friends all say suzuki bc the only thing they see or hear is GSXR. i know i want a CBR for my first bike and i talked with some of our salesmen and i can more than afford the payment and insurance on a 600 and even the 1000. so my question is since i have my motorcycle endorsement for work, i ride them just about everyday, and i can handle the GSXR13's and ZX-14's, should i get the 1000 or the 600? i know that if i get the 600, eventually im going to want more. as far as laying it down, im not stupid enough to try 5th gear wheelies or whatever... im a smart sensible rider when it comes to bikes. like i said above, i have no problem testing the "busa's" or ZX-14's when they come out of the crate so i can handle the power. im just wondering which one makes more sense. thanks in advance guys.

i ride a cbr600rr and i love it... i've rode liter bikes (1000rr, r1,1098) and they aren't as much fun as the 600 is to me on the street... yeah they pull alot harder and they are alot faster but its just to much for the street... a 600 cruising at 55 or 65 sounds badass and the bikes are alot lighter and easier to handle... i know when i was riding the 1000s i felt like i was gettin tired... it was just to much for the street...

honestly you can't beat the new 07 or 08 cbr600rr... they are ranked the highest and they are probably one of the best bikes on the market... watch any review and you'll see why the cbr6000rr is the right choice over a cheaper gsxr... everyone buys the suzuki because they are cheaper... about 8300 vs 9700...

Almost everyone I know that has had a 600 never needed all the power, yet they all sell them and go for 1000's. Most people are completely fine on a 600 unless you really like hittin' the triple digits. I have ridden GSXR 600s and CBR600's and personally like the styling of the Suzuki, but the ride and dependability of the Honda. I have ridden an 06 Hayabusa and realized that I would never get one. Fast as hell but a tank to ride.

thats right... you have the orange tribal edition cbr dont you? also take into consideration, if i wanted to do some racing, just some casual day at the track kinda stuff, would the 1K be better for that or would the 6 still get the job done?

"smart sensible rider" and 1000cc don't necessarily go together.

I hate to sound like a kung-fu movie cliche, but the answer lies within your own heart.

Basically, you need to be honest with yourself and analyze your own riding style. Do you want to be one of those people that pulls wheelies at 70mph? Are you going to be hitting triple digits on the speedometer? A 600cc will go from 20mph to 60mph in three seconds, but it will take longer to go from 60 to 100. Are you ever going to want to go from 60 to 100 in three seconds?

Sure, lots of people are going to tell you it's dangerous and stupid. But this is a time for self-reflection and honesty. This is a time to decide what YOU want, not what other people want, because they aren't the ones paying for the bike. Stupid or not, are you going to do those things that 1000cc will let you do?

If you work at Paradox, then the answer is simple..they dont sell Suzukis and I dont think they would appriciate you going down to Xtreme and getting a gixxer. :grr:

i say screw all of them and get a ninja 250 like me:D :D

nah i guess it depends where you are riding. around here its a lot of tight turns and winding roads, not a lot of open stuff so a 600 would be better fot that. if your riding on highways and want to hit 160, 170 go for a 1000. i think thats stupid though, i know a lot of people with 600s and they dont use all the power. they go like 160 or so stock and that should be plenty. im sure a 600 would feel better because of the weight difference too. i think im gonna get a F4i next year, but thats me. i like how they look and you can find pretty good deals on them. i hear the cbr600rr is the best bike around too so that would be good if you want to spend that much. but its your choice, ride them all and pick one...

I'm guess cause i'm old and over the hill (33) and have raced for 15 years....i sold my VFR Interceptor and bought a cruiser!!! The sport bikes are fun as hell around town but take a LONG ride and you'll see how uncomfortable they can be!!! I'd get the CBR just to be different from your buddies!

yeah i'm riding a 06 cbr tribal right now and love it... the only thing i'd buy over it is the red 08...

a 600 is perfect for track days... the 600s corner so much eaiser thats its much easier to get a feel for the bike leaning into corners and stuff... most riders starting out are faster on a 600 then on a 1000...

i know you said honda but if your twisted between a 600 or a 1000 why not check out the zuki 750 unless your hell bent on staying with red.

my teacher always rides 1000s because he likes the feel of the bigger wider bike. and my brother has a r6 but he hates that it doesnt have enough power to keep wheelies going longer. Idk if this helps but if i was you, i would get a 1000 because i would want to go pretty fast often, and it is the bad@$$ bike a lot of people want...in most cases

I say go with a 600RR, its all your ever gonna need. Trust me dont let it fool you that its only 150 more CC's than your quad cause it feels like 550 more. I had an 03 CBR600F4I and loved it. Had no problem running triple digits when i felt the rush and had no problem runnin 80 through 130 on the back wheel. I had a couple friends go out and buy R1's and dont get me wrong their nice bikes but they are just too much, you cant keep the front wheel down and it is just more work to have to deal with the bigger bike and a crotch rocket is uncomfortable enough to begin with.

Get a triumph daytona 675. In my eyes Triumph makes the best bikes out there and the daytona has won shootouts. And you won't look like everyone else when your out riding. http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/Daytona%20675_5345.aspx

I work at xtreme lol... paradox has always helped me out though. parts wise, my employee discount doesnt even stack up to what paradox does for me but when it comes to buying the actual bike, my employee discount kills everybody else around here. i may work at xtreme but ive always had a problem with people who dont sponsor quad riders. :p

anyways, ive decided im gonna go with the 600. its a lil cheaper plus i think the 08 1000 looks like **** lol

I have a 2001 cbr 929rr erion. It is a great bike, but when I ride I miss having my 600 and ham fisting the trottle alot more often on short roads and banging up the gears when my friends had bigger and faster bikes. I like the 929 but don't use nearly the potential she has on the street. You are disadvantaged when riding with other liter bikes but they aren't having as much fun.

Really I had loads of fun on my R6 compared to the 1000's. On the street they just aren't as much fun IMO. After selling my R6 I did buy a gixxer 750. AWESOME bike. I only had it for 3 months.

don't let people pull out in front of you...

Two of my buddies just got rid of their CBR600's for new decked out 1000's. Personally I think they are cool bikes but no one ever really uses the whole 1000cc's. Granted I ride a bike that is a 1200, I prefer to keep my wheelies under 90. Just doesn't seem worth either getting hurt, getting a ticket and so on. Oh and I see this everytime someone gets a new bike. "Im never gonna go over 120 or do wheelies" Within a month or two thats out the window...
