Hey I'm about to get a new exhaust for my truck ('03 chevy 2500hd with vtech 8.1) and was wanting some opinions. I'm not wanting anything special, my options are flowmaster muffler or straight pipe. Basically, I'm wanting some noise but I'm worried about it being out of control straight piped - (getting tickets). Just wanting to know what you guys thought and if any of you actually know from hearing one or the other how they are. Thanks

on the 8.1 the super 44 sounds awesome, little quieter than straight pipe, with more rap to it, i have the 6.0 and will get some sound clips if you want..

I work at a shop that installs exhaust pretty regularly and the 8.1 is loud straight piped. I would recommend the Flowmasters, they sound great and can be kept relatively quiet when you want to. The glasspacks are an o.k option if your looking for inexpensive but they don't sound as well.

Flowmasters all the way! I recently got the pleasure of riding in a GMC with a 502. They said it was stock exhaust, but it was fairly loud. Glass packs also seem to make a truck doggy. I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong, but thats what feels like to me. Super 40, 44, or 50 series would be excellent choices.
