yfz450 battery

have 06 yfz 450 and having starting problems. battery appears to be going dead sometimes will not start other times works fine. have read other threads about similiar issues. when hooking up battery charger with key in off postion and battery charger off arcing occurred when hooking up positive side of battery. did not have negative side attached. i wouldn't think any arcing should have happened anyone had similiar problem?

i had some similar problems when mine died the few times!
be sure that your not hitting any metal around there. as there is alot of tiny stuff in there that would be easy to hit.

also, if it is arching just a little just go ahead and connect the negative. it should be okay. just make sure that you use a low amp charge, and check on it occasionally. it shouldn't take long to charge.

if it is still arching. my suggestion is just go for it. just make sure that you check on it from time to time to make sure that the friggen thing doesn't start on fire!
