View Full Version : 450R chassis?
Anyone ever thought of or tried installing a 250R motor into a 450R chassis?
Thanks

i'm sure it can be done, and probably has. when the 400EX first came out, a lot of guys put 250R motors in those frames. your better off just getting a aftermarket chromoly one.

I've seen it done to an '04 years ago. I didn't get to look closely because it was a picture in a theft alert post, but it looks like the stock 450R frame has plenty of room for the pipe to fit through.
Lonestar makes a chromoly frame for the 450R.

I seen one in person. The motor looks too small for the chassis. The guy did say that it handled better, due to the lower placed and less weight motor. I think the story was that he got the 450r minus the motor for something quite cheap and had a bunch of 250r motors. He put something together with what he had with them.
Thanks guys. Is anyone like Walsh or anyone else still building 250R frames? If so what is a frame and sub frame going for now days that will work with stock style compnents?

Walsh still is(very different than a stock frame, very little-no stock chassis parts work). Lonestar(fits almost all stock chassis parts), Front line, Prp and some more little know brands. I would get a lonestar frame, I think just about the only stock parts that won't work are the head stay, motor mounts and the foot pegs.

i saw it done in a mag ounce. didnt look like the owner had to do too strenuous of a customization to make it work.
