high compression squish clearance

Im running about 205 psi compression,and my squish is about .044
86 cylinder/86 rod and piston/cool head

Should i go tighter or looser with the squish or is .044 acceptable?

Ideal is somewhere in the range of .035".

0.044 is just a tad big, but honestly (if it were my engine and it was running good as it was) I would bother with the hassle of correcting it. You are right about the range you want to be.

At .044 clearance and 205 psi compression running with vp110 race gas should i be safe from detonation?

There are lots of different factors to detonation, so only a real-world test would tell. But right off the top of my head, I'd say you're safe.
