looking to squeeze little more juice out of my 400 with out losing reliabilty, was thinking of doing a stage 1 or 2 hot cam install but not sure what else i would have do. is this a fairly easy install? any suggestion would be helpful:devil:

The stage 1 si your best choice, IMHO. Virtually as reliable as a stock cam. Drop in. Easy installation. Nice power gain across the board.

Go for it!

Other mods to consider:

450R carb

ok this is what i did on my 450r. i put on a full white bros aluminum pro pipe, and droped in a stage one hotcam. you can really tell ths difference, stage one is a botom end cam stage 2 is a mid rage which is top and bottom in the middle and stage 3 is a top end cam. if i were you i would throw a pipe on in while i had it apart. it makes great power gains and is well worth it.

you make the most worthless comments, please stop. If we wanted to know what a cam would do to a 450r he would have posted in that section or asked that question.

Michigan, a cam would be a good choice, find the cam that matches your riding style and go from there. If you still want more power, look into port work or maybe even a 416 kit. The 400ex's are virtually indestructible so you wont have to really worry unless you go with big motor upgrades.

Hotcam is a great mod to have! Good power all throughout the power band. My brother did the cam with a Wiseco 10:1 piston. It ran great until there were a few problems...down side to a faulty flange, loose screw and then maybe the timing jumped while riding.

yeah i'm proud of that carnage haha cause it wasnt mine it was my brothers. My friends that helped him build it and guided him bought him a brand new complete 400ex motor for his birthday that was coming up. Best friends i ever had!
