There had been another thread, Post your MX 400's, but I am planning on racing XC and I want to see what you guy are running, and what your set up's are. So, if you could just post a picture of your quad, and if you want, you can go into a little detail about your XC'r.

Thanks.

For a high-end XC bike:

+1 a-arms
+4 axle
Front shocks
Maxxis Irazr tires (others will work)
Exhaust
11.1 piston
stg 1 cam
A good rider!

You need more than that, but you don't need a plus 4 axle. Thats way too wide.

ZR pilot, I read that you had two different sets of revalved shocks before, with two different shock options. Which do you like better?

Those are GT Thunder 450R rebuilds.

Yep actually have three.

They all are different and used for different riding situations.

1) GT Thunder 450R rebuilds using progressive springs.
The progressives are best for tight technical, slower, little bumps XC riding. But they tend to dive into corners and don't do as good on handle large jumps

2) GT Thunder 450R rebuilds using dual-rate springs.
The dual rate work well in most situations. They corner great and handle larger jumps good.

3) C&D Racing 450R rebuilds using a ZPS - dual-rate springs.
These are by far the most universal, they just work good in most situations. But I need to do some testing to get them dialed in.

A good rider!

Heres my saying.

- Either +1 or stock will work fine
- +4 axle is way too wide you want to keep it stock or maybe a +2 most XC racers are really trying to be under 47"
- Front shocks yes but the rear is even more improtant. OEM rear and 450r fronts revlaved and resprung will work great.
- Maxxis tires I agree. Razr 2 fronts and Razr rear seems to be the best combo.
-Exhaust, its a must to get power out of anything and for future engine mods.
-11.1 piston I disagree because the added heat for the compression isnt worth it. 10:1 is the highest I would go.
- Stage 1 cam would be best for the woods.
- And a good rider is always going to help

The things you seemed to miss were:
- Steering stabilizer
- Better flowing airfilter
- Maybe handguards
- Good braking system (Steel braided lines or some good pads o both)

Anyway, heres mine about a month ago when it looked pretty. It looks a lil rougher right now. Last race the front of my 400 met the back of a King Quad and broke the bolts for my fender mounts and bashed up my carbon hood... I thought I was gonna lose my fenders.:scary: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa177/nickvanacore/graphics002600x450.jpg

Holy crap! I have never seen hand guards that huge before :eek2:

Is it me or is your bumper tweaked?

Other than that I think it looks great.

Yes my bumper is bent, I hit a tree :p . I really do not like these handguards just because they dont keep my hands all that dry. I have seen people on another forum board run the powermadds zipties to the msr handguards which I have. Then on top of all of that they have the powermadd gauntlet which is another huge handguard. People have told me that the gauntlet is to flimsy by itself enclosing your hand and laying on top of your hands. Here is a picture of what I am talking about. I think I will run all three just for that really muddy ride or race :macho
