got my 06 450r rejetted last week. full hmf system w/ no air box lid. 165 main, 48 pilot, 2.5 turns out. plug was a silverish gray color. not real light but not dark either. when i first start it up, it starts right up, no problems. give it a rev it has a bog to it at first. ride it while its not warmed up and has a quick bog at low low rpms. when its warmed up, no bogs whats so ever but has a hard time starting. any suggestions?

before you touch your main...keep it at 165 and go pick up a 55 leak jet, should solve your problem

He has an 06 not an 04/05.
Totally different carbs.

To me it just sounds like he needs to let the bike warm up, any engine can bog when its cold.

But if u don't already have a 55 leak jet its a good thing to do no matter what.

I'm running a 180 main in mine. Which even to me sounds big. But can you argue with an A/F ???? But for hard starting don't need to change the main, 06's, most need the leak changed.

A 48 is way to high.I gat a ported head, cam, high comp piston and 43mm carb, exhaust, open airbox, and a 42 is fine.I tried going higher and it was worse.U need and adjustable air screw and a 55 leak jet...

im going to try just going back to the 42 pilot. like i said. it runs perfect when warmed up, just hard to start.

Ok, don't laugh at the old man, but is the leak jet and the slow jet the same jet?

Because I need to do the same to my son's quad. It's doing exactly the same thing.
