I'm in quite a pickle right now I'm 16, and I'm currently on the 250, which to say the least isn't very fun. I've been riding for a year, and It just feels really slow, (I've topped it out more than a handful of times)

So, Would it be worth it hop up to the 300? Is the extra 50cc's really that much of an improvement? I don't want to mess with the engine besides Exhaust/Intake/Carb. I want a quad that'll handle like a mofo. I know 400 stuff is a pretty common swapover, so that helps a lot.

Or should I look for somthing Different, I was looking a Rapty 350's mostly, and they seem nice, or should I look for something used, Maybe a 400EX, 250R? I don't really like the idea of buying used though.

your makeing this waaaayyy to complicated, if you think you can handle it, go for the 400, if u dont, in a few years you will wish you did. IMO its not worth rebiulding a 250 ex.

Nah I meant getting rid of the 250, and getting a 300, I'm on a limited budget, so it's tough.

No budget?? I dont see the problem then lol. If it were me in the same situation, id get a new 400. But dont get something you will hurt yourself on. I love the reverse on my 300, so take that into consideration.

I dislike reverse on the 250. I find it much easier to just push.

i think it would be worth it just for the fact you can now change gearing and have a clutch. on the 250 if you get more power who cares, you cant gear it up. on the 300, get some more power and take 2 teeth off the rear, or even add one to the front.

if the 400 is going to not end up costing you much more in the
end though, get the 400. and about the reverse thing, I dont ever mind it when i dont have it, unless im in a tight trail where I have to push forward then pull back about 6 times because the trail is off camber, and muddy so i dont have footing to really stand and lift it to turn or ill end up on my @$$. then it is nice to have, and when your felling lazy.

I'll agree with the others. Look at a 400ex. A used one is dang near the same price as a used 300ex. You've got the experience, so the added power shouldn't be an issue. IMHO, the 400ex is one of the easiest quads to ride, easier than the 300ex. (smoother power, more stable, etc..)

Alright, thanks, I talked to the local dealer and he said he'd give me 1K off an 07 400 with some minor cosmetic defects.

I'm stoked.

a grand off of what its already marke at or a grand off of MSRP? if it is a grand off of msrp is all, id say no way, you should be getting a grand off MSRP on a brand new mint one just for the fact it is a year old model...

if it was already marked down as a 07 and then you get another grand off because of cosmetics then sounds good.
