Family and I went out for a ride today at croom. and about have way into the day my sons 90 really started dogging it.
Was like he had lost power. wouldn't start with out giving it a push...
Quad is less than 30 days old... so what would cause this.
thanks

I am an idiot stipid throttle limiter tighten up to the point it was about a 10th of the throttle...
DUH...
Do have a jetting question .... once I figured out and was taking it for a test run I notice with the stock filter it cuts out up top. However with the K & N not as noticible..
Need to be able to run stock filter on days it is wet... as it is not possible to keep my son out of the water...
I have seen pictures of the Hetrick filter system...
Anyone know if I can move the K and N up?

Run a uni pod filter and an outwear. Will cost you about 30ish shipped from just about anyone and will take care of your situation. I am assuming you are still using the relocate tube on yours? You really need to use it to get the filter way up out of the direct spray. We run them on the quads around here because of just that reason.

Forgiven:

Do you run the stock snorkle tube with the uni? Is it better to do it that way or put it directly on the carb?

For best performance right off the carb works best...so I am told...but when going in mud, water etc. it is too much of a liability sticking out like that. I won't recommend it UNLESS you are riding in somewhat controlled enviornments like MX tracks etc.

I don't see much performance difference with the tubes myself, but those in the know pull them off before they fire them up the first time.

Hope that answers your question.

I am assuming realchosen1 has a snorkle tube but has taken it off. My buddy makes a canister similar to hetricks but find the cheap snorkle tubes work very well with the pod and outerware.

Still have stock snorkel tube.. as well as K & N bolted to the carb..
With you on the whole liability thing..
thats why want to run uni off of tube.
thanks for your help...
will keep the K & N for the track and the other set up for the family rides

Yeah, we go through creeks, mud etc. and suck in some water and now your pushing. Even with an outerware I had some issues running off the carb last year.

Running off the carb... small puddle sucked in a bunch of water and cracked the piston... Had to replace top end.. So back to snorkel and stock filter sucks...

Use the snorkle and the Uni. The stock is ehh, the uni will flow about 1 to 2 jet sizes bigger. It is a noticeable difference.

Outerwares are real good but not a miracle cure. Can't have water blasting straight on them. You could prolly get away with the K&N on the snorkle as well. I ride in a lot of dusty and sandy enviornments as well which is why I recommended the UNI.

I have a K&N on my personal machine but I can always find a little sand or a little dust that gets by even when I am meticulous about the filter condition and the outerware...jmtc

Thanks for the replies.

I have just converted fron the stock snorkle setup to a uni-pod with outerwear. Jetting was changed but due to the great Ohio weather my son has not ridden it yet.

If we race again this season, it will be local MX racing.

I may try to go back to the snorkle with the uni for wet riding, but I hope the new jetting will still be good with the snorkle tube and uni. Any thoughts?

Just say no to the K&N it will suck sand in and ruin a motor. Stick with the UNI. We have seen alot of top end rebuilds using a K&N If you oil a UNI prop. it will save in the long run.
