i run 18 inch rear tires with this gearing for mx, what size tires are u running? my crf is ported with cv4 ti valves, 12.5-1 piston, 2004 crf450r honda cam, +7 oz fly wheel, white bros carbon pro exhaust. good rule of thumb, for every 2 inch taller tire drop one tooth on front. the pipe, compression, and cam make a little difference in what gears u run. some guy i know run a 40-42 rear sprocket, best bet is to try different gearing.

the heaver flywheel will help calm down and smooth out the hit from the motor, the biggest thing i noticed was more traction. with the power of the crf i recommend at least +7 oz fly wheel, u can buy them from trail tech for 119.

id run at least 13-40 for a 20 inch rear, and yes the flywheel weights are designed to help you in your situation.

When I had my Hybrid going for a little while before the engine blew up I noticed when I was cornering if I didn't keep the idle up it would stall fairly easy if I am correct a Heavier Flywheel would solve this problem. But It would also make the motor a bit less snappy and more smooth like racer norris said.
