Going to be ordering an exhaust kit for my '08 400ex. Just wondering what you guys are all running and what sounds the best.

I would say

1) HMF
2) Curtis Sparks
3) Yoshimura

sprayedgt

And that would be what? That every system is different, has a different sound, and maybe makes a little more power here or there? If every person did a search for every question they had then there would only be like 50 different threads on here. Kinda boring if you ask me.

Thanks Clutch and HondaRider. I'm sort of leaning towards the Curtis Sparks exhaust now. I've read good things about the Yoshimura, and it seems everyone has a HMF out there. Just want something different and from what I've read the Curtis Sparks is kick *****.

Too weird dude cuz I was just looking at that not even a minute ago. Very nice system. I emailed a question to you through ebay.

I aggree with Pipeless416. If people would actually use the search feature, most of their questions have already been answered. This topic has been beat to death repeatedly.

It's not "Boring" it's called being "intelligent".

sprayedgt
03-19-2008, 07:33 PM
I would say being "intelligent" would be to ask a question even if it's been asked before. Technology changes, exhaust systems change. If a topic came up a year ago why would you want to read old news? I did the search and most of the 5 billion pages was old so I renewed it. Now the next person that does a search can have at least something that is new input or info. I ask questions to get answers/opinions and learn. I guess your outlook is a little different than mine

Just purchased a Lexx this week. Should be here tomorrow. I'll put it on tomorrow night and see what I think.

ok new rule...from here on out everyone with a question has to spend at least 15 minutes searching before starting a new thread. jee i sure hope the site doesnt die out since pretty much every topic has been discussed about the 400ex already. i say people asking a question on here is an honor to every other member because they are asking your opinion and if you are bored with it or it is too painful to answer....then dont. as for the exhaust i would try youtube.com and listen to them, there are a bunch of them on there. its not as good as the real thing but its as close as you can get without hearing them i person.

Thank you Bigbore24:D I've gone on youtube and listened to a few brands. I gotta say the Curtis Sparks sounded wicked. But I haven't heard the Lexx yet so i'll try to see if I can find a sound file of it.

.......:ermm:

Some people never learn...

If you used the SEARCH feature, you would find there is a thread about the lexx exhaust titled "lexx follow-up" or something like that. On the second page he has a sound clip.
Search is a wonderful thing:D

Here is a clip of my DG X2 slip-on, list is $309. I won't sit here and tell you that mine is so much better than everyone else's, this is just what I ended up buying.

I will say that after some research that unless you have a big bore kit I think a full system is a waste of money. It's not that you won't see a gain over a slip-on, but the gain that you get I didn't think was worth the extra $200 bones on average.

Just my 2 cents.

And one more without the fenders on. It's got the quiet core/spark arrestor installed. Sounds a lot nicer than the factory muffler, but isn't obnoxious. I'm sure that it would meet dB limits. It's supposed to be 93-94 with the core in, and 99-100 with it out. That's specs, but I'm sure it would need to be tested.

Oh yeah. Picked it up for $175 + $15 shipping on ebay. Purchased a set of nerfs from the same guy and he only charged me the one shipping charge. The Lexx and the Tusk nerfs both were drop shipped from Rocky Mountain ATV, so I guess buying them on ebay gets you the same stuff for a little less.

How much ya want for it?

Its nice to have a back-up exhaust. I found a powercore for $30 a long time ago that had the same problem, but I found the full alien and jumped on it, lol.

I heard a DMC Alien exhaust yesterday at Carolina Adventure World and holy crap that thing is freaking LOUD!!! I think I'm settled on getting the Curtis Sparks X-6 full exhaust. Nice sound, great power gains, and when I do the big bore I'll be able to carry it over to the new engine. For all of you that added something useful to my question I really do appreciate it:)

Why does nobody run an FMF? I run that pipe. I thought it was a Powercore 4 but maybe it's called a "Q"? It's definately not quiet. My 2 stroke buddies tell me they can hear me 2-3 bikes back when we're in the dunes. :)

Good choice :p But you know the cutis sparks isnt any quieter...of course you could always make it that way with the quit core.

The Curtis Sparks that I heard yesterday sounded sooo nice. I really don't know if he had a quiet core in it or not. It was loud, but not nearly as loud as the DMC.

My White Bros Full E-series is really nice. Although it is recomended to have motor modds done to gain it's full potential, it works good on a fairly stock motor too. Quality is great, sound is great, and the power is great. The one on my 440 helps it make 44hp at the crank. Cost is a factor here though, I think for exhausts anyways you get what you pay for. The more you spend the more quality you get. Like Curtis Sparks for ex. It costs alot but it's a good pipe, and I think WB's full E-series is the same way.
