Either my fingers or a hose clamp:)

I tried that on a junk chainsaw and I broke the rings.

It's certainly more difficult just using your fingers, but it's not impossible. I've never thought to use a hose clamp, not a bad idea!

I dont think our truevalue has hose lamps that go around a 87mm piston, anyone know what that is in inches?

87mm = 3.425"

The hardware store SHOULD have something.

Yep used hose clamps all the time working at small engine shops.

I also use hose clamps. The large exhaust clamps also work well. I like them best beacuse of the smooth surface and they dont want to twist up on you like cheaper hose clamps do. Once pushing into the sleeve the rings and piston will slide right out of the clamp into their proper spot. Small enough to fit between the head and the case when installing, and they easily seperate for removing.

Well I guess I might as well find me a hose clamp. Everytime I read my clymer manual its seems easier and easier, I'm getting really excited except I have to wait till my Credit Card goes back to the normal credit limit before I can get anything shipped out , however I ordered my Stage 2 Cam and gasket kit already.
