I am interested in a set of air scoops that I found on ebay,
BUT the description on them says he had to remove them when he installed a set of piggyback front shocks.

He does not say what kind of shocks he installed, and I have sent him a question about what shocks he installed, and when the interference was with the scoops.

I am currently waiting for a new set of 450r front shocks to arrive that I have purchased from one of the forum members here, and am looking forward to installing them on me bike.

I want to know if anyone here, who has installed 450r front shocks on their 400ex, also has air scoops, or have you had a problem with the scoops after changing over to the piggyback 450r front shocks?

I have not seen anyone here on the forum mention such a problem, but just thought I'd ask.

any pics of your 400ex with 450r shocks AND scoops would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is a common problem with aftermarket piggy back shocks. I had to sell a set of MMF scoops. Tinner Scoops will fit with 450R and any other aftermarket scoops. That's what I have installed now.

thanks hornetgod,
great pics, and absolutely gorgeous quad,
but it looks to me like the rezzies on your front shocks are 90 degrees out from the rezzies on 450r shocks.

so does that mean when I put the 450r's on my bike, the rezzies should be on the forward side of the shocks?

from what it looks like in your pics, if the rezzies were on the backside, they would hit the scoops.
or am I just imagining this?

You could put them with the reservoirs forward if you want scoops bad enough. I'm not sure if it will impact thier performance.

Theres a few on here that have there R shocks turned out I really dont think they would hurt performance to much but if you hit something thats the only bad thing about them being faced out.

IF I AM READING THIS CORRECT, THEN A SET OF 450R SHOCKS WON'T FIT A 400EX WITH SCOOPS.

mine do with about a 1/2" clearence. the scoops are OMF.

kind of hard to show the clearence in this pic but you get the idea.

simple solution cut a rounded notch on the air scoops so the shock does fit. It wont be hard.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
If necessary, 5 minutes with a rotary file ought to do the trick .
