alternative to bigger carb?

moneys becoming an issue on my build and I was wondering if there could be an alternative to getting a bigger carb to feed my modded 440?

there is only so much a stock carb can do . there are several choices to chose from and of course you dont have to have a new one, watch ebay you may find some thing for very little money.
your stock carb will work but your never going to get the full potential from it.
BTW unless you do all the other things like cams, intake ,p&p and the right pipe your not going to see much from a more CC's

if you have an 03 or 04 z. get an 05 or newer. they are bigger and probably all over ebay.

honestly your going to need more than that to feel any power increase

what do you think would happen if i used the same jets that the 450s use then adjust the fuel air screw and put an extremely free flowing intake on it?

ya jetting will help but only if other things are done to accommodate it .
do you yet have a better than stock pipe yet? and of course a better air filter is a must and some thing like a trx 400 ex intake boot ,lid off, then the jetting is done.

well i have hotcams, a full pro circuit exhaust and a uni filter along with the 13:5:1 440 kit so really i have everything i need except the carb.

I thought I did have one commin from one of my friends but he screwed me and sold it to someone else. so I tryed to find another but they usually run around 200-250 for a used one.

get one off of a crf450. i had one on my 440 motor and brought it to life. put it on my 485 and it was mind blowing the differnce. and their pretty cheap on ebay.

kawi, a cheap alternative is to get a carb off a 400ex. Depending on where and how you ride, this might be what your looking for. I realize you have the 440 kit, but this carb has a lot of advantages for someone who might like to putt around or really tear up some trails with his friends. If you have access to a dyno or an LM1 meter, you can make your tune-up darn near perfect. Just my 2 cents. MK55

well im not one to putt around lol, im a balls to the wall rider. so im pretty much lookin for some way to enhance my stock carb to get the most fuel and air out of it.

you did not list a better air intake boot ,the right boot could get you up to 3 hp. the UNI will hold your hp back a little ,maybe even 1 hp,its still a very good filter but IMHO thats ok if it means keeping out the dirt.
